our beginning

Trust Art was introduced at the TED Conference in 2009 with a novel way to create community around public artist projects: issuing ‘shares’ and making philanthropically-minded individuals 'shareholders' in the projects.

We found inspiration in the story of the Statue of Liberty, which had as much art and imagination in the funding and community-building efforts as in the sculpture itself.

HOW it works

You may gift monies, materials, or time over this website to any project.

You are given one share for every dollar you give. You are also given shares for your ‘in-kind’ contributions of time and materials.

Shares may in turn be given to your friends and acquaintances, passing the gift along to a larger community.

# Every three years, the ART from completed projects is auctioned, and any profits are shared between artists and shareholders.

The first Trust Art Triennial is being planned for February 2012.

our GUIDING BELIEF

The gift must always move.

This is an example of what you can see on our shareholders’ profile pages.

PLAN for GROWTH

Our plan is to be transparent, accessible, and ever-inviting.

We want to grow as a community that experiences art, learns from its experiments, and gets inspired by new people and ideas together.
